Effects of Alcohol in the Laboratory and in Everyday Life

Alcohol is known to cause impairment to skilled performance and to increase the risk of accidents. A great deal of work has been carried out in the laboratory, but rather little research has been done on performance testing in an everyday life setting.

This study will use mobile phones to run the performance tests. They will be used for a two-week period of everyday assessments. This will be followed by a laboratory-based study which will involve two half-day sessions.

To take part, you should be:

·        Aged 18-65, and in good general health

·        Drink alcohol on a regular basis, but not to excess

·        Be familiar with using a mobile phone

·        Live in or near Edinburgh, and be able to attend sessions at the Royal Infirmary (Little France)

A fee will be paid. Click here for the study information sheet.
